Sharjah

Sharjah Children’s Reading Festival (SCRF) hosted a thrilling rock guitar workshop for children. The event, held at ‘Music Workshop’ in Kids Hall, was an exciting opportunity for young music enthusiasts to learn and practise playing the guitar in a fun and interactive setting.

Renowned Ukrainian guitarist Yuliana Shapoval, known to awe audiences with her electrifying performances, is inspiring and upskilling young and aspiring musicians who wish to follow the artiste’s lead at a rock guitar workshop she is leading at the on-going 14th edition of the Sharjah Children’s Reading Festival (SCRF 2023) in Expo Centre Sharjah.

At one of the many sessions of the workshop, which was well attended by young schoolers, who marvelled at Shapoval’s talent and passion for music as she effortlessly played Beethoven classics as a warm-up before guiding the children through the basics of playing rock guitar.

From viewing an illustrated introduction of the string instrument, learning about how the different parts function to holding the guitar correctly and strumming to produce different sounds, the young attendees picked up the basics and some tried their hand at improvising their own solos.

SCRF, an annual event, continues to provide an incredible platform for children to learn and grow with events like the rock guitar workshop which enhance the festival’s diverse and engaging programming.

Organized by Sharjah Book Authority, SCRF is celebrating the joy of reading and learning among children by providing them an incredible platform to engage with authors, illustrators, and educators from UAE and around the world.
